Hailing from Germany

Huzzah! I don't think I mentioned in any of my previous posts that I was going to Germany, but here I am. I got here 21st Dec to visit my brother and his wife over the holidays. It's 04:00 at the moment, making it roughly 20:00 in Tx. I'm blaming my lack of sleep on jetlag... because it couldn't be insomnia *rolls eyes*

I'm staying in scenic Bamberg on post with my brother and his wife. I must say, so far the trip has been interesting. It's beautiful here with lots of trees and open land. My sister-in-law Mandy is really sweet, and their baby Lucas is adorable! It's nice to actually get to spend some of the earlier months with my nephew (seeing as I didn't get to do that with Ibrahim)

We had dinner with Mandy's family tonight (well, last night seeing as it's 4am). It was interesting to say the least. Most of her family speaks German. Her dad speaks a little English, but it's still hard to communicate with them. I spent most of the evening hovering around Mandy, my brother, Mandy's sister...etc... and playing with Lucas.

I've pretty much thrown out the Islamic rules this week. I drank (I fell off the wagon a few weeks ago O_o) and I had pork. I have not prayed once since I got here. I'm not really sure how I feel about that. But I don't want to digress to a topic that will incite confusion. At the moment I am thrilled to be here visiting my brother.

Anyway, I think I'll try to get some sleep now. More later :)
